Sustainability steps taken by Suncourt Hotel

• 2008 refurbishment program Suncourt installed Fujitsu inverters into 40 lake view studios, replacing old style wall mounted heaters. Some heating units were well over 12 years old
• Power saving devices installed into 27 lake view studios. Key cards must be inserted into device to operate lights and power appliances
• All unnecessary outdoor lighting work on timers and switch off no later than 11.30pm daily. Others including some car park lighting and path lights work on sensors only.
• Option for guests to reuse towels, to save water and reduce chemical detergents.
• Energy saving light bulbs installed into our two main conference rooms
• Recycling programs in place
• Promote and support local suppliers of goods and services

To demonstrate to our guests that we are committed to maintaining high standards Suncourt Hotel is proud to announce that we have aligned ourselves with Pro-Tek. Pro-Tek allows us to provide our guests with services and procedures for best practice in the prevention, detection and control of insect infestations.

Our certificate is an endorsement of our commitment to educate staff and the provision of excellent facilities that are certified to be cleaned to the highest possible standards. Our service systems and product applications are jointly managed by Pro-Tek systems and Suncourt Hotel .

The objective of this programme is to demonstrate to guests that Suncourt Hotel is:

Our certificate is proudly displayed. It is an asset and advertisement for our Taupo accommodation that differentiates our business from others in the same sector. It is an endorsement system to let our visitors know they are safe from bacteria, viruses and allergens.

Tag and Test – Electric Room appliances

Prevention, protection and compliance. One method to achieving this is to ensure equipment, leads and appliances are tested for electrical faults on a regular basis. Visual inspections are performed to identify any obvious problems and electrical tests are performed on equipment with pre-set tolerances, ensuring integrity in the process to reduce the risk of electrical shock as far as practicable. A computer generated log provides the results. As long as it meets the requirements, the item is tagged and logged. These services are carried out by the local Jim’s Tag and Test franchise, whom are compliant with New Zealand standards. The franchisees are competent persons in accordance with AS/NZS 3760:2003 and are trained to ensure their testing practices comply with all requirements. The equipment they employ is able to perform a leakage test as required by AS/NZ 3760:2003

New Zealand Hotel Council is an incorporated society whose members include the international chain, independent, privately-owned and boutique hotels throughout the country. The New Zealand Hotel Council is actively engaged in activities that provide tangible benefit and leadership to its members. NZHC's members have well over a billion dollars invested in properties and plant. They are responsible for thousands of employees around the country and are committed to being actively involved in the ongoing development and success of the tourism industry throughout New Zealand.

HANZ – Current Members
The Hospitality Association is a voluntary trade association representing 2,350+ hospitality businesses. The association is committed to adding value to its members via individual membership service and by local and national advocacy. Members have access to legal advice and information on employment, liquor licensing and other compliance issues. Members can also save money through the purchasing benefits we have arranged. The Hospitality Association represents members on all issues impacting on their businesses including tourism, employment, sale and supply of liquor, accommodation, food and gaming.

Conventions and incentives New Zealand is the marketing name for the New Zealand Convention Association Inc, a fully incorporated non-profit society, which commenced its activities in 1984. The Inbound Tour Operators Council of New Zealand is a trade association representing the New Zealand inbound tourism industry. ITOC's mission statement is clearly focused on inbound tourism and ITOC is well placed to play a key role within the New Zealand tourism industry. Its membership includes Inbound Tour Operators (Full Members) and their suppliers (Allied Members). ITOC has represented the interests of inbound tourism for over thirty years, and today its full and allied members collectively handle most of New Zealand's holiday visitor arrivals.

The Hospitality Standards Institute (HSI) focuses on developing talent in the hospitality industry. HSI is our training partner and they help us to help our staff build careers, or deliver skilled people to help grow our business.
